Mama shop themed bar: Worth the hype?

Hidden bar spot behind a Mamashop facade known for its unique themed cocktails and detailed old school exterior 🇸🇬 Novelty-wise, the cocktails doesn’t look as instagrammable / SG-themed as before, which was slightly disappointing. ⁣

The only aesthetic-looking drink is the signature Chai Tarik Brew ($18) in a condensed milk tin — naked malt whiskey, butterscotch, pulled milk tea. Fragrant, easy to drink and tastes like breakfast🧋Recommend if you want a lighter alcohol flavour. And for the gram of course. ⁣

🌺 Pink Limau ($20) is a cocktail rendition of bandung — tequila, watermelon shrub, lime, rose syrup, soda, cucumber. Rose taste was strong and on first sip tastes like cough syrup? But after awhile it gets better. ⁣

🍋 Another memorable one is Run Fast, Ride Slow ($22) — gin, jasmine tea, yuzu, honey, lime. It’s like an alcoholic BIAP yuzu slushie, very refreshing. ⁣

Also had the most expensive milo ever. Tray of 6 Milo Gao shots ($38) — rum, milo topped with loads of milo powder. Lowkey feels like tiramisu, quite tasty 🍫 Other flavours include Ribena Sour, Liang Teh, Sour Plum, Fish Curry. Wished they allowed us to mix and match the flavours. ⁣

Soft Shell Crab Bao ($18 for 3) exceeded expectations for sure 🤤 Fluffy buns with a WHOLE crab sandwiched between. The texture was on point and chili crab sauce had a real kick, super shiok. ⁣

Worth visiting for the first time but beyond that…. probably not. Good effort to integrate nostalgic Singaporean childhood elements but the only worthy part was entering the ‘Mamashop’ through the secret door imo. The interior was underwhelming and lacked character, could done more to stick with the theme.
