going back to college after losing my mom

On July 26th, my beautiful mother passed away. After going through all the funeral stuff and spending a few days with my family I decided to still go back to college as planned.

It was a difficult decision because I go to school 12 hours away from home. Ultimately I decided I needed some normalcy, and that staying at home wasn't going to help me grieve the way I needed to.

Obviously people grieve in many different ways and that is okay. I just wanted to be vulnerable about my situation to let people know that it's okay to let life go on. It's okay to try and have fun and it is absolutely okay if you do end up having fun.

You're not a bad person for grieving the way you need to grieve and it doesn't mean that you miss them any less.

I still get sad, I still cry, and of course I miss my mom so much. But for me, getting on with my life is what I needed.
