$2.99 Streaming Platform Better Than Netflix?! 🍿🍿🍿

As a breastfeeding mother who stays up in the night for pump sessions, I’ve managed to clock quite the number of dramas this year despite being busy with baby.

And no, my platform of choice is surprisingly not Netflix, not Disney+ but instead YouTube (for dating variety shows) and Amazon Video for dramas! And yes I’ve all 3 subscriptions, don’t ask me, ask my husband why.

Sooo… if you don’t know about Amazon Video, it’s a super affordable subscription that comes as a package with free domestic and international deliveries on Amazon! Win win for mummies who need to do grocery shopping like me! And best of all, it costs $2.99/ month. Probably the cheapest video streaming subscription out there. And yet the shows are some of the best!

Only downside? Sometimes the streaming is abit wonky when I watch it on my TV. So far no issues on my phone.

Anyways, to the important part which are 6 shows I’ve watched/am watching and really enjoy so far this year:

😇😈Good Omens - A celestial comedy about the end of the world.

This show is a delightful blend of humor, fantasy, and the apocalypse. Based on the novel by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, Good Omens follows an angel and a demon who've grown rather fond of Earth and are determined to prevent its destruction.

If you enjoy British humor, mythology, and stories that subvert expectations, Good Omens is a must-watch.

🔪🔪🔪Why Women Kill (Season 1) - A dark comedy exploring female rage through the ages.

This anthology series takes a look at the lives of three women from different eras who deal with infidelity in their own unique ways. It's a sharp, often shocking exploration of gender roles, societal expectations, and the lengths women will go to for revenge.

If you're interested in social commentary wrapped in a thrilling package, or am a woman, this show offers a provocative and entertaining perspective. I watched because of the title (yes shock value works) but stayed for the plot.

🤯🤯🤯The Peripheral- A mind-bending sci-fi thriller.

The Peripheral is a complex story about a young woman who discovers a secret connection to a parallel future. As she gets drawn into this dangerous world, she must grapple with the consequences of her actions. With its intricate plot and exploration of technology's impact on society, it's a show that will keep you guessing.

Am a few episodes in, and as a lover of the Sci-fi genre, this has captured my attention with its detail of world building and interesting elements not seen in other shows before.

🦸‍♂️🦸‍♀️The Boys- A superhero satire that punches hard.

This gritty series takes a cynical look at the superhero genre, exposing the corrupt and often downright evil side of these supposed heroes. With its dark humor, over-the-top violence, and sharp social commentary, The Boys is not for the faint of heart but offers a SUPER (pun intended) refreshing take on the superhero trope.

If you're tired of the typical superhero fare and crave a show that doesn't shy away from tackling real-world issues, The Boys is a must-see. Marvel can take a backseat thank you. This is truly the superhero genre done right!

🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻American Gods- A mythological road trip with a dark twist.

Based on Neil Gaiman's novel, American Gods follows a recently released ex-convict who becomes embroiled in a war between old and new gods. With its rich mythology, stunning visuals, and complex characters, it's a show that immerses you in a world of magic and intrigue.

As someone fascinated by mythology, religion, and the clash of cultures, I was sold just on the premise. First season was very promising, but I’ve yet to get started on the next season.

🩺👨‍⚕️House- A medical drama with a brilliant but abrasive protagonist.

House centers around Dr. Gregory House, a genius diagnostician with a sharp wit and a complete disregard for authority. The show follows him and his team as they tackle complex medical cases, often pushing the boundaries of ethical and legal limits.

Who doesn’t love a good medical drama? I do! This is just one of my many favorites - like Grey’s Anatomy, The Good Doctor, New Amsterdam and more!
