How I change job industries without taking paycut

Summarising a few reasons based on my experience:

1. Pick up & master soft skills that are transferable between different jobs and industries

- These skills are usually learnt through your jobs & gain through experiences.

- Certain soft skills allow you to attain higher pay 💰

- Example of soft skills: people management, time management / multitasking, interpersonal & networking skills

2. Having a “good” & generally useful degree

- My statistics degree is almost relevant in every industries since data analysis is required almost everywhere 😉

- Being in Singapore, having a local degree helps a lot as a form of recognition, especially if you are going into a new industry without much relevant experience.

3. Know your worth & know how to market yourself

- Be confident of the value you’d potentially bring to the company, even if you are not experienced! It boils down to attitude & learning capabilities.

I’m happy where I’m now, and I’m glad I pushed through despite many challenges. So never give up, and you will get there ✨
