If you are into cultural experience when traveling, I highly recommend checking out the Gyeongbokgung Palace in SeoulSeoul, South Korea.

First things first, rent a Hanbok. A Hanbok is traditional Korean clothing. I encourage renting a hanbok for the experience and free entry into the Gyeongbokgung Palace. Right across from the palace, you will find Hanbok town. In Hanbok town, you can rent Hanboks for a selected amount of time. I went to Hanbok town and rented from a rental place called PrincessPrincesshanbok 公主韓服 hanbokrental. I paid for a Premium Hanbok rental for 90 minutes, which was $30 USD. You have the option of choosing Classic hanboks (simple styles) or Premium hanboks (vibrant styles). At the rental place, they dressed and styled me after I made my selection. For additional insight, you can wear whatever you want under your hanbok. I wore a tight fitted jumpsuit so I can easily put my Hanbok on.

The process of selecting a hanbok and getting styled is relatively quick. Afterwards, you are offered to wear head pieces for an additional cost. I opted out of the opportunity and headed straight to the palace.

With a hanbok, you have free entry into the palace. If not, tickets can be purchased at the door. I am not sure what the exact fee is but it is common to purchase tickets onsight. You can watch the change of guards ceremony and learn about the palace by getting a guided tour. I explored on my own.

The Gyeongbokgung Palace was the main royal palace of the Joseon dynasty, which is the largest of the Five Grand Palaces built by Joseon dynasty. It was built in 1395. It served as the home of the royal family and the seat of government. It was nice learning about Korean culture and viewing the palace, while meeting some of the sweetest people in the world!

I would give this cultural experience a 10/10.
