Main differences between a Polaroid and an Instax🤍

While my Instax mini 8 is pretty old now, it still works great and I definitely don’t regret investing in an instax instead of a polaroid camera, and here is why:

- Polaroid cameras are way more expensive, with the Polaroid Now+ selling for ~$150. While I wouldn't mind paying double the price for the camera itself, the film is also twice the amount at approx. $2 per image, with the Instax being at $1.

- The Instax mini is way more beginner friendly! The images are more consistent, and with its multiple lighting modes, you can easily take images with fewer mistakes.

- However, the classic polaroid cameras gives that vintage feel you might look for in an image. While this is appealing to some (myself), practicing on an Instax first is recommended! This is especially because film can be so expensive, you don't want to waste it taking images that won't turn out well.

General tips for beginners:

- DO NOT SHAKE THE FILM! I feel like this is said so often that most people already know this by now LMAO but! Just in case you don't, shaking the film might actually cause blobs and distortions in the image.

- While talking about film, it should especially not be exposed to higher temperatures. Shooting above 82 fahrenheit might give the image a yellow or red tint, so keeping the film cooled in the fridge before taking it outside and trying to avoid the sun while it develops is a good idea. The same applies for temperatures below 55 degrees, which might give the image a blue tint.

- Images taken outside are always going to turn out the best! Just make sure the sun is behind you, pointing towards the object, for the best results ☺️
