TIPS FOR YOUR NONTOXIC HOME 🏡

if there’s one compliment i’ve gotten quite frequently over the past year or so, it’s that my house always smells “clean”. people always ask how i do it since i don’t use glade plug ins, hearth and hand candles, and honestly, i don’t even use essential oils!

so how DO i maintain a clean smelling home w out these things? here’s a short list of what to do—

keep your home *clean*

this doesn’t mean that your house needs to be spotless all day everyday, what i mean by clean is to not have old food laying around the house, toss any half drunk beverages, snacks etc.

another thing to remember is to stay on top of your garbage! don’t let it accumulate and overflow and thus, end up stinky. if i’m making raw meat or throwing away a poopy diaper, i put that in a separate bag and toss it in the dumpster right away.

clean out the fridge

don’t let produce, milk, meat, etc. sit expired in the fridge!! the longer you wait the worse it gets.

beeswax candles, house plants and salt lamps

these items are all well known for naturally keeping the air fresh and clean in your home! all of these can be pretty affordable as well.

palo santo sticks

i don’t utilize this often, but if there’s ever a stinky bathroom or i changed a poopy diaper in the living room, lighting palo santo is a very quick way to get things smelling fresh again.

quality cleaning products

i’m sure i’m not the only one who can’t stand the smell of conventional cleaning products. 🥲 using items w a more subtle scent is going to give your house that clean, natural scent that you’re going for. i like branch basics but lemon infused vinegar is always a good one too.

open the windows

if you’re living somewhere w clean air, open the windows! we usually open them right away in the morning and i shut them in the early afternoon when it starts to get really warm. it’s the perfect way to wake up and it gets fresh air circulating throughout your house!!
