Dearest Gentle Readers,

If you're like this writer, you are obsessed with the Bridgerton series and are not-so patiently waiting for season 4 (most likely 2026🥲). Over the past couple of years, I've read the original Bridgerton book series, enjoying almost every minute. After a lot of time and careful consideration, I've put together my ranking of favorite to least favorite along with my thoughts - so spoiler alerts ahead! Let me know in the comments if we have the same ranking or not and if you're excited for season four!

No. 1 - An Offer From a Gentleman 🎭

Easily my favorite Bridgerton couple, not just in their book but as they appear in other books as well. I loved the Cinderella retelling and how it played out in their time period, plus Benedict is my favorite Bridgerton. Their story had me hooked from the beginning, and I'm so excited for their upcoming season on Netflix (and hoping that not much gets changed🤞🏻)!

No. 2 - Romancing Mr. Bridgerton 📖

Friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes, and this book was no exception. Colin and Penelope are also some of my favorite characters in the series, so reading their love story gave me little butterflies. I also love writing, so I share a common interest with Pen. As far as their season on Netflix, I do wish that they stuck to their original story more and gave the main characters more screen time.

No. 3 - When He Was Wicked 🏰

This book had a different tone to it than the rest of the lighter hearted stories in the series, which was a nice change of pace. It was also refreshing to have this story touch on a common issue for women present day, infertility. I'm not a huge fan of the change in the TV series on Francesca's love interest since I was rooting for Michael and her throughout the book, but I'm interested to see how it'll play out.

No. 4 - It's In His Kiss 💎

This was a fun and lighthearted read with some mystery to it! I love Hyacinth as the main character and her relationship with Lady Danbury throughout the story. I wasn't the biggest fan of Gareth at first, but he grew on me as the book progressed.

No. 5 - On the Way to the Wedding 🎊

Another friends to lovers story, and it was nice to see one of the Bridgerton brothers actually believe in true love and seek her out. At certain points, the story seemed to drag on for a bit, in my opinion, but Lucy and Gregory were cute together, and naming their children after their siblings was a sweet touch.

No. 6 - The Viscount Who Loved Me 🐝

This is one of the rare cases where I actually like the show better than the book! While there were some touching scenes in the book, I was not a fan of Book Anthony. I think his character was better developed in the TV series, showing him as the overprotective brother, who may be serious and slightly traumatized but can have a goofy side. Plus, Anthony and Kate had better chemistry in the show.

No. 7 - The Duke and I 👑

This book didn't grab my attention like the others in the series, so this is another instance where I like the show better than the book. Simon's character felt very flat and undeveloped, unlike in the show. Again, I'm actually glad Netflix changed this in the show because season one is what got me addicted to the Bridgerton series.

No. 8 - To Sir Phillip, With Love ✒️

My least favorite in the series! 🙁 I do love Eloise in the show and book, so I'm rooting for Netflix to change a lot of her story. I did not feel any chemistry between Eloise and Phillip or that Phillip actually loved her and wanted to marry her other than being able to have someone there to be a mother to his twins. I did think the scene towards the end of the book, where the whole family goes out shopping and is bonding was cute, but there weren't a lot of heartwarming scenes in this book for me.
