Introduction to my Personal Statement: My journey into medicine began in second grade when my grandma, a social worker, took me to Shands Hospital NICU for a career project. The sterile scent of disinfectant filled the air, mixing with the faint beeping of monitors and rustle of nurses' scrubs. As I clutched my grandmother’s hand, the sight of incubators cradling fragile lives left an indelible impression, igniting my fascination for the intricacies of the human body. The atmosphere was delicate, almost sacred, as doctors moved with grace and precision. Watching a doctor leaning over one of the incubators, his voice low and soothing, his hands steady as he adjusted a tube, I was entranced.
