Your kbbq has a story!! 😍😍 Hanwoo Beef Korea 😋🥩🥩🥩👍🏻

Did you know there is a history and cultural siginificance to kbbq that we all super love?😋😋

(it's a 🥩meat lover's heaven i tell you!!!🤣😋)

I took this trip to 🇰🇷Seoul, South Korea and decided to try a local tour recommendation and this was one of the best hidden find/ decision of my entire travelling life 🤣

So apparently kbbq 🍖only happened after the korean war, in which miners first used wires twisted into meshes from the korean-japanese war in the past to cook meat, 🥘and to keep them from being too cold, they often cook meat with loads of fat marbling, and to get through the vigorous work in winter climate.

Fast forward till today Hanwoo beef in kbbq is a must in normal Korean families and tradition. Think top grade Japanese wagyu with well fed pampered cows. Hanwoo beef is Korea's version of premium meat and compulsory for every major celebration in a family, for their new year, and as wedding dowry as well even till today!!! 🥩

Hanwoo beef has it own system of korean cuts and varies from the normal understanding of meat cuts at a butchers. Different cuts leads to differing levels of fat marbling and really surprisingly, taste and the cheweyness or softness of meat as well!

And surprisingly, different cuts also appeal to different groups of people!! Fats have differing tastes at different parts of the beef cuts apparently🤣

It was so valuable that political figures also once used hanwoo beef as a form of bribes as well as it was even more valuable than gold (since meat was rare during the korean war). Top grade hanwoo beef is still extremely expensive in Seoul!!! A meal can amount to about $200 SGD a person!!!

Because of this, there are places in Seoul that are catered specifically for wholesale of such premium cuts. The government of South Korea also issues licenses for such shops (there are only a few official ones who can sell Hanwoo beef).

You can actually find hanwoo beef at places such as Woo Tender in Seoul!! Alternatively you could head to their wet markets and wholesale to purchase their beef as well as a rented kbbq stove😋😋 (more affordable up to $75 a pax max).

When you have tried the different meat cuts i don't think you can ever go back to normal kbbq 🤣😋😋 they were just so delicious 😋😋🥩
