Hey girlss <33

A Good Girl's Guide to Murder is a young adult mystery debut novel by Holly Jackson. The novel is the first in a series of three novels and one novella: A Good Girl's Guide to Murder; Good Girl, Bad Blood; As Good As Dead; and Kill Joy. Good Girl, Bad Blood was released in 2020.

This is the first book and series and also the first time I am reading from this author. So, This is my honest review and summary on what I think of the first book.

This book is one of the best murder-mystery style novels I have read for a long time, i was kept guessing literally right to the very end. There were so many twists and turns and beautifully laid out plot developments, i could not stop reading this. Holly incorporated the perfect level of humour and implied romance to the story without taking away from the overall suspenseful atmosphere to the book.

The allusions to modern social problems such as sexual assault and drug/substance abuse, bullying and mental health were incorporated very tastefully to show them in their stark, black and life-ruining true forms while not dwelling on them, as this would have changed the meaning of the book. It's also worth pointing out how the book is designed to be read as an investigative diary style report, giving a very upbeat and informal writing style, which I personally found very refreshing! Could not recommend this book more!

Overall the plot was 8/10. Since this one was the first book, I didn’t want to get my hopes high for the following books. Just to be safe 😉

ps: I have already read the second book, check out my honest review on my other post <3
