Steigen vs dryer vs traditional laundry rack 💸😬

We bought Steigen's Solar Alpha model >2.5 years ago—and I thought I'd share the reasons why we went with this choice!

The Solar Alpha model is discontinued, but costs the same as the current Solar Pro ($1,399)!

Cheaper Steigen alternatives definitely exist, but I can’t vouch for their quality since I've never tried them 😂

Our Steigen's held up well throughout the years though! 💪💪

These are the reasons why we chose a Steigen:

1️⃣ Perfect for small apartments—no floor space needed!

Floor space is a premium for us because #livingsmall. This was a HUGE decision making factor for us.

As the Steigen is mounted on the ceiling, it frees up our floor space unlike bulky dryers or laundry racks that need to be placed on the floor.

2️⃣ Weather doesn’t matter. Do laundry anytime!

One of the major perks is the ability to do laundry anytime, regardless of the weather.

In our previous rental apartment, we used a standard IKEA laundry rack, and were often held hostage by the elements 🥲😥

With the Steigen's solar and fan drying options, we can do our laundry even on rainy days or at the night 👌🏼

3️⃣ Clothes are safe from shrinking and wrinkles 👕👖

My experience with dryers are from Airbnb stays when travelling.

This is where I first discovered that dryers tend to shrink clothes or leave them INSANELY WRINKLED.

The first time my clothes shrunk I thought wth how did I become SO MUCH FATTER SUDDENLY?

Like my pants literally couldn’t fit anymore lulz 😤😤

Sure, there might be laundry hacks to follow, like being selective about what can go in the dryer, but tbh, I find it a chore to remember and sort out which clothes are dryer-safe.

And if you’re going to be buying new clothes regularly, you’ll need to make a mental note each time if it can be put into the dryer 😅🥵

WAY too much effort for me.

Plus, we're a household that despises ironing, so we leave our ironing duties to our Helpling cleaner 🙈

Not every cleaner is great / efficient at ironing... and if more wrinkles are involved, it means more ironing time and consequently, more spending since Helpling charges by the hour 😬💸

4️⃣ No rush to collect dry laundry 😌

While a dryer is a fitting choice if speed is your goal, we're content with letting our clothes hang on the rack for 2 days.

We're not in a rush to collect them, since it's not like we'll run out of clothes LOL.

2 days won't get our clothes dusty either (maybe bc of the location we're at).

Hence, our laundry rhythm works with our Steigen setup! 😄
