As a marriage and family therapist my perspective is that the root of most problems are from a disagreement/misalignement in values, lifestyle, relationship roles and expectations and child rearing. These are very complicated topics that can take years to figure out. First start off by asking yourself these without thinking of the other person, write them down, and then discuss your answers with your partner.
