I am TIRED of people romanticizing the 5am morning wake up routine. You can still have an extremely productive day and not wake up at the ass crack of dawn! Waking up at 5am isn't going to make you successful or healthier, it's how you spend your morning that sets the tone for the rest of the day - regardless if its 5am or 9am. Some people have different circadian rhythms and tend to be more active and awake at night, like me - your neighborhood night owl 🦉 - which is not conducive to a 5am wake up routine.

If you work a night shift or in any job that isn't 9-5 aka flexible work schedule then it really doesnt matter what time you get up as long as you are getting your work done. Like for example it is currently 2:28am and I am the MOST productive I have been all day! My brain works better at night and some of my best ideas are brewing while everyone else is sleeping because they have to get up in 2.5 hours. I work 40 hours a week, am a full time masters student, and have a healthy social life and I wake up at 9am.

The moral of the story is you don’t have to force yourself awake at 5am to be successful, do what's best for your body. Living a healthy lifestyle is doing what's healthy for you and that begins with listening to your body.
