When starting college it’s really easy to gain weight. Lots of people quit sports they played for years & start eating/drinking whatever. This often leads to weight gain known as the “freshman 15.” When I went to college I never experienced that. Here are the 4 things I did to not gain weight.
1. Wake up, workout
Everyday I had a set time I would workout. For me that was waking up at 5am and getting to the gym by 5:30am. Your set time doesn’t have to be early but working out before class helped me stay consistent.
2. Lift heavy
When I was at the gym I lifted heavy and tried to gain as much muscle as possible. This way any extra calories I was eating could go towards building muscle instead of being stored as fat.
3. Walking as much as possible
I went to college in New York City so was a little easier for me but I tried to walk everywhere. If I had to get groceries I walked instead of taking the subway.
4. Eat healthy
Even though there was lots of junk food in the cafeteria I always tried to pick the healthiest food I could find. For me this was a salad or grilled chicken based meal.
BONUS TIP:
don’t drink alcohol! Or if you do limit the amount you drink. This is the easiest way to gain the freshman 15.
