Did you know our brain has 2 systems? System 1 is what I think of as our “lizard brain” - fast, impulsive, in the moment, emotional. System 2 is the long-term planner - slow methodical, and strategic.

In the heat of the moment of an emotion like anger, we’ve felt System 1 firing on all cylinders! Then the next day, when we’ve processed it, our System 2 comes into play as we think about forgiving that person.

I love this quote: "Nothing in life is as important as you think it is, while you are thinking about it.” This truly blew my mind because we put way too much pressure on ourselves. I love the trend of viewing yourself like “the main character” but the dark side of this is that we then put too much importance on things that won’t matter when we’re seventy, eighty years old. Will this really matter a day from now? A year from now? Ten years from now?
