@Lemon8 Food Iโve gotten a few messages across my social media accounts asking for the recipe for the artisan bread and I figured it was time to share it!
Itโs super easy. Iโm talking like a caveman could do it. I literally bake one of these every other day because the hubs uses it for sandwiches or I make it into garlic bread or guest come over and just have to try it. ๐
This is the basic recipe, but I add a little razzle dazzle here and there such as herbs.
Ingredients
- [ ] 3.5 cups AP flour (I use bread flour but either works.
- [ ] 2 tsp Kosher salt
- [ ] 1/2 tsp instant dry east
- [ ] 1 and 3/4 cups warm water (I have a filter so I use tap water)
Directions
- [ ] Combine all dry ingredients and give it a quick mix.
- [ ] Add in the warm water and mix until combined in a ball.
- [ ] Rest and let rise covered 5 to 8 hrs room temperature.
- [ ] Dust counter and hands with flour and remove dough from bowl into counter.
- [ ] Fold in all 4 sides, dust it with flour and cover with either plastic or a bowl for 10 mins.
- [ ] Add an empty 4 or 6 quart Dutch to oven for 30 min at 425ยฐF.
- [ ] While the oven is pre heating , remove the bowl (or plastic) from on top of the dough and score the bread with the design of your choice.
- [ ] Rest 10 mins.
- [ ] Put it into the oven for 30 min.
- [ ] Remove the lid and return into the oven 5 to 10 min to further brown the top
Notes:
๐๏ธ I usually coat the inside of my Dutch oven with olive oil while itโs preheating in the oven.
๐๏ธIโm not a fan of super crunchy bread, so I coat it with butter as soon as it comes out of the oven.
๐๏ธ if youโre having trouble scoring your bread, add more flour so the blade doesnโt get stuck.
๐๏ธNo ducts oven? No problem, just add whatever pan you want to cook it on to the oven to heat. Shape the dough on parchment paper then move it onto the pan in the oven (parchment paper included). Fill up a another pan with ice and place into the oven with the bread.
