Private school is overrated

Let's face it--college is expensive. The average student borrows over $30,000 to pursue higher education, but private schools could cost upwards of $60,000 per year!

I'm a huge proponent of public universities and in-state tuition. I went to the University of California San Diego, and had a great experience at a public school. Here are 3 more schools that I think give you a better bang for your buck than private schools:

1) University of California, Davis - this is one of the lesser-known UC schools, but has been rising in the ranks over the years. Plus, they have a great veternenary medicine and agricultural school.

2) University of Florida - UF is known for great programs in Engineering, business, biomedical sciences, and social sciences. It's also got a strong alumni network that will help you land a job after graduating.

3) University of Texas at Austin - UT Austin is another public school with a strong Engineering program (read: high employability). If you're looking for a school in the heart of an amazing city growing in jobs, then this is the place to go!
