BEST CLAYPOT CHICKEN RICE I HAVE TRIED?! MICHELIN✨

Don’t sleep on this store when you are in Kuala Lumpur!!!

With an abundance of Claypot Rice options in the KL, it's a real challenge to uncover a truly exceptional one!

However, I was introduced to one of the best (or maybe the best?) claypot rice eatery —Heun Kee Claypot Chicken Rice! Naturally, I couldn't contain my excitement and immediately leapt at the opportunity to savor its tantalizing flavors!

From what I have gathered, the shop uses high quality rice and the freshest chicken that they can get their hands on!

Their secret is in their “2 way heat system” :

- 1st heat: cooking the rice slowly from the bottom

- 2nd heat: using an iron lid with burning charcoal on top of the claypot to cook the chicken!

Also, they were recently award the Michelin!! We spoke to the owner and she was sooo proud of her achievement. 🥹 (you can see the Michelin award placed at the top of the cashier!)

My recommendation and a tiny tip!

▪️ORDER THE CHARCOAL CHICKEN RICE (duh!) - if you have 2 pax, order the large one to share

▪️ Come at a off peak timing ! We came at 430 and there was already a mini queue in front of us, but it only took us 10mins of queueing and we were in!

▪️If you are on the way over, give them a call to order the claypot in advance as the food might take 20-30mins to cook!

▪️Side dish - order the seafood tofu, I heard so much about it and it didn’t disappoint. You will also love the chilli that came with it, it’s homemade and it’s really good.

▪️ TIP! If you really like the chilli, you can bring it home! You need to ask them in person as they don’t openly sell them (prob cause it’s limited!)

▪️I suggest to just grab there, don’t drive because the parking looks super limited!

All dishes were perfectly cooked and I will definitely make a trip down to have this again!! 😋
