chemical vs physical sunscreen | what’s the diff🌞🥵

☀️You use sunscreen. But do you know there are 2 types of sunscreen? There are Physical & Chemical sunscreens in the market, both has its pros and cons. Here are some of the differences:

⛑️ 1. How it protects you from the sun

- Chemical: absorbs UV rays & converts into heat, needs time to absorb (15-30mins after application)

- Physical: reflects UV rays, and works immediately after application

💦 2. Texture:

- Chemical: More watery/hydrating, normally leaves NO white cast & blends into the skin nicely, slight dewiness

- Physical: Stiffer, denser in consistency, and may leave a slight white cast/tone-up effect, more mattifying

🙂 3. Suitability:

- Chemical: may contain chemicals that irritate your skin (best to check ingredients before buying), but works better under makeup

- Physical: better for sensitive/acne-prone skin, sits on top of your skin AKA barrier between your skin & environment (may not work well under make up)

👀 Recommendation:

It’s really up to personal preference on which type of sunscreen is better. Tbh, it's better to have both types so you can switch around depending on your day. As a sensitive skin girlie, I usually use mineral sunscreen when I’m not applying makeup and use chemical sunscreen if I’m applying makeup. But do remember that it’s important to find the product that works for your skin and check the ingredient list before purchasing.
