we all know the things we should do to make progress in the gym, but here are 3 things that will actually prevent us from reaching our goals:

1. not following a program. utilizing progressive overload is a MUST when it comes to making progress in the gym. if you find yourself constantly doing different exercises and/or going into the gym a bit lost, this is for you! focus on getting stronger and making progress in the same exercises week after week. i like to stick to my programs for AT LEAST 4 weeks (minimum) before changing up exercises.

2. eating too little can prevent us from getting the necessary nutrients we need to make progress. make sure you’re hitting your caloric intake and specific macros (according to your goal)

3. when we workout, we create micro-tears in our muscles. when we rest, our body heals those tears and makes us stronger in the process. without proper rest, we end up in a constant state of breaking down our body while giving it no time to repair itself. we’re actually doing the opposite of our intention, so sometimes less is more!
