show day looks (& feels!) glamorous & fun. but before deciding to compete, there are a few things you need to have.
1. finances. bodybuilding is an extremely expensive sport (esp for girls who have the extra cost of a suit!) between food, supplements, coaching, and show day essentials like tan, makeup, hair, show fees, travel fees, etc. the cost of competing adds up quickly!
2. having a good relationship with food is vital. the process is prepping for a show requires low calories and a strict meal plan, so making sure you have a good relationship going into it will ensure, not only a successful prep, but also a successful reverse diet after the show
3. a good mental, physical, and emotional well being. make sure your stress is low, you have no injuries going into it, and you’re in a good position to prep.
4. TIME (and patience). prepping for a body building show can take anywhere from 12-20+ weeks. there will be some things that you aren’t able to do, but make sure you’re not scheduling a show over your busiest time (like if you’re traveling a lot or have a lot going on with work)
bodybuilding is so much fun and so rewarding, but it’s important to look at everything that goes into a successful show day!
