LUCID CAFÉ — an oldie but a goodie

Lucid is no stranger to Singapore’s café scene. Opened in 2020, this minimalist grey café at Jalan Besar is a go-to for avid café hoppers because of its great coffee. I’ve kept my eye on their space for the longest time solely because of their interior – think cement flooring, industrial grey walls, and matte silver-grey chairs and tables. Despite all the new cafés popping up around the area, you definitely shouldn’t skip this one.

maple scone with miso butter: ★★★★☆

iced hojicha latte: ★★★☆☆

I really liked the maple scone! I wasn’t expecting it to be very sweet but it was covered in a sort of sugar maple-flavoured glaze which I fell in love with on the first bite! It honestly got a tiiiiny bit too sweet at the end but I still loved how it tasted with the salted miso butter, and the texture was perfect – crumbly but not dry! The portion was massive (imo) too, so it’s good for sharing between 2 people~

I would definitely recommend visiting this café! The staff were very friendly which made my first solo café experience better <3 Also, it’s in an area with many other popular cafés as well, like Apartment, and other halal-friendly cafés like Lola Faye (right across) and Missus (on the same lane), so it’s a great stop for your café hopping dates!
