This apple cinnamon oatmeal reminds me of apple pie but guilt-free! It is full of fibre, protein, and warm spices paired with a touch of sweetness from the brown sugar and honey. This oatmeal recipe is definitely the perfect option for anyone looking for a simple yet nutritious breakfast which will provide enough fuel to kick start the day.

INGREDIENTS

1 tbsp butter

1 apple

1 tbsp brown sugar

1 tsp cinnamon powder

½ cup rolled oats

½ cup water

½ cup milk

A pinch of salt

Topping ideas:

Crushed almonds (or any other nuts)

Honey (or other liquid sweeteners)

Cinnamon powder

INSTURCTIONS

1. Dice the apple into bite-sized cubes.

2. Heat the butter over medium-low heat until melted and add the diced apples.

3. Stir fry for 2-3 minutes until slightly soften and add the brown sugar.

4. Continue to stir fry for 2-3 minutes and add the cinnamon powder.

5. Stir to combine and fry until the desired softness. Remove from pan and set aside to cool.

6. Into the same pan, add rolled oats, water and milk. Bring to a boil and simmer until thickens.

7. Add some of the cinnamon apples into the oatmeal and mix until combined.

8. Transfer the oatmeal into a bowl and top with a dollop of Greek yoghurt. Top with the remaining cinnamon apples, and other toppings of your choice. Enjoy while it is still warm!
