**Disclaimier: This is my PERSONAL experience and how I feel about it**
I recently participated THM event as a seller that left me feeling disappointed and carrying my luggages filled with clothes back home 😓. There were a few small positives, however the overall experience was not up to par as most people shared positive thoughts on the curated event.
Let’s talk about the negatives first.
❌Negatives ❌
1. Slow Crowd
The crowd and buyers that mostly attended THM were people in their 20s or below. Most people came only in afternoon around 2pm onwards as they were waiting for prices to drop. From 10am-1pm, I only had a few sales.
2.Niche Fashion Buyers
Most of the buyers have a very niche taste where they were seeking for y2k / vintage quality clothes at an affordable price. If you are planning to attend the event as a seller , you will need to have these “particular aesthetic” clothes that appeal to the crowd. The clothes that I brought were mostly blogshop brands that weren’t appealing to the crowd 🫠. If these was sold in the luggage market , the clothes would have been cleared instantly.
2. Rental
In my personal opinion, the rental of booth was expensive if its shared between 2 people or lesser.
This included the fact that I didn’t make much sales.
- $78 / booth for 1 rack + 1 hammock
Therefore, it is highly recommended to share the booth with 3 or more people ‼️
3. Overhyped Event
In my personal opinion, the event is mostly filled with influencers that were sponsored/ invite to attend the event to clear their clothes compared to sellers (me) that actually paid for the event to
aim to clear my clothes. Which is why most
of the reviews stated mentioned there were able to earn over 3 digits of profits in my
personal opinion.
***
Additionally, I tried to sell my clothes at $1 from 5pm onwards but NOBODY was keen in purchasing 🤡.
I made only about two digits profits ( after rental) staying from 10am - 6pm. 🫠
✅ POSITIVES ✅
1. Buyers are not extremely price conscious
One of the few positives was that the buyers are willing to pay higher prices for the clothes ($10 - $30) which was thankfully why I was able to breakeven.
2. Venue Space
THM has fewer booths which allow sellers to
expand their space slightly more to showcase their display of products. This allows potential buyers to have more time to look at the clothes.
✨ TIPS ✨
If you are still considering to attend the event as a buyer, I will strongly recommend having fixed prices from 10am - 1pm minimally. You can refer to the posters that I have made from canva for reference! or use it if you would like to :-).
- Make sure to bring your own chairs too as you will
be there the entire day! Ikea stools aren’t comfortable for long-term sitting
- Make sure to print PAYNOW / PAYLAH QR Codes as most buyers will prefer cashless payment
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️/⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐: 3 / 5
Overall, while there were a few small positives, the negatives outweighed them.
I would not recommend attending this event unless you are confident that you have the trendy aesthetics clothes that appeals to the crowd.
For me personally, I will definitely go for the luggage market > THM in the future.
