MADE MY OWN TOTE BAG FOR FREE 👜

I made my own tote bag at this FREE sewing class!!! If you didn’t know, the National Library Board(NLB) has this initiative where they have free classes for you to learn new skills/equipments. It’s called MakeIT at Libraries! Some of the things you can learn include laser cutting, 3D printing, videography, sewing and robotics&coding! 🤖

The class I attended was the Sewing Starter Session @ Woodlands Regional Library. Here’s what you need to do to sign up for a MakeIT programme,

1) Create an NLB account if you don’t have one

2) Click this link and book a class!

‼️ Do take note that only NLB members can sign up for the programme. Slots for classes run out pretty fast too. I’m not sure when slots are released but the staff said that it’s usually during the end of the month.

💭 Here’s how the class was conducted

• Introduction of basic theories (Sewing basics, how to set up and use the machine, what we will be making)

• Hands-on activity (making of the tote bag)

• The instructor typically demonstrates what needs to be done first before we actually do it

• They also have a few other MakeIT staff who will walk around to guide you and offer help

Overall, I had SOOOOOOOO much fun attending the class and I would definitely recommend it to everyone. The staff were super helpful and really made everyone feel at ease. 😌

ALSO, once you’ve attended the starter programme, you can book a slot at the MakeIT studios in the future if you want to utilise their machines!!!!! 🤩
