your guide to a NOT-SO-TOURISTY UK trip✨🌊

one thing that I love about the UK is definitely its cultural richness🇬🇧 and nature🌲after surviving the cruelest and saddest winter🥶, the sprouting of spring and sunny days absolutely call for day trips out of London☀️ here are some of my favourite towns conveniently located just a train ride away from London🚄

🏝️Whitstable

- hands-down the top of my list and it’s so underrated! As a coastal town, Whitstable is so so gorgeous during summer

- chill by the beach with a pint🍻 as you admire the glistening sea view and sunbeams🌅, it’s such a vibe!

- Whitstable is known for its seafood (esp oysters🦪) so be sure to grab some while you’re here

🗻Hastings

- another gorgeous coastal town but what’s really unique about Hastings is its gorgeous hills (East & West Hill) which you can access via a mini train 🚂(but they call it a ‘lift’ haha)/trek up

- had seafood and pasta at a humble store here and the locals are really nice

- the view is so surreal even when i went on a gloomy day

🧗‍♀️Dover

- the closest point in UK to France🇫🇷! you can literally see the France border from here and you may even be connected to French signal on your phone haha

- the nature scenery here is SO ETHEREAL, trek up the iconic White Cliffs of Dover and you’ll find yourself immersed in a view of complete greenery and presented with an unparalleled seaview, it’s such an amazing break from city life 🌊

- BUT beware of cow dungs in the trek to the cliffs 🫠haha and transport is a bit inaccessible within the town you have to visit the visitor centre to call a cab since uber doesn’t operate here

🚣‍♀️Canterbury

- a very popular day-trip destination, famed for the westgate garden filled with tulip patches 💐with a backdrop of punting tourists in the canal (though i do find it a bit overrated bc the garden is kinda small irl)

- that being said, canterbury is a very culturally-rich town and taking a walk down the town makes me feel like i’m being teleported back to ancient England in the 18th century 🛖

- you can indulge in an authentic British afternoon tea ☕️and take visit the cathedral here but i think honestly half a day is enough

- canterbury is also well-connected to other towns (Dover and Whitstable) which you can just take a bus to
