one of the BEST chinese food in chinatown 🫣

I've officially FALLEN IN LOVE with Chinese food. 😍

It's actually my first time at Dong Fang Mei Shi, though I always see a long queue for it whenever I walk past Chinatown area. And after trying it, yes I do get the hype. 😮‍💨

📍 Founded in May of 2005, Oriental Chinese Restaurant (Dong Fang Mei Shi) is dedicated to bringing customers authentic North-Eastern Chinese food. They actually have two outlets which are located within walking distance from one another and I actually went into the wrong outlet when I was looking for my friend. 😫

💭 The food is definitely better when shared #withmybesties and so I excitedly agreed when my friend jio-ed us for dinner there. The place was bustling with people on a weekday dinner but we were seated quickly. After ordering, the food came within minutes and everything looks so good? 😋

🐔 La Zi Ji 辣子鸡 (Crispy deep-fried diced chicken in dried chilli and peppers) [$13.80]

The chicken cubes were deep-fried to perfection and covered with mouth-watering mala spices. For a non-spice eater like me, this was surprisingly manageable too! The portion was also generous, even though there were quite a bit of bones too. In the end, we had to dabao the leftovers home!

🍅 Tomato Egg 番茄炒蛋 [$7]

This is a pretty simple dish but the egg was cooked perfectly, soft and still gooey! It was a good balance to the slightly sour tomato too.

🥞 Chives Pancake 韭菜盒子 [$4.50]

This came hot and crispy! I preferred this over the dumplings as it was juicy and the flavour was on point 🤤

🐑 Lamb Skewer 烤羊肉 [$2.60 for 2]

Can’t go wrong with skewers! The meat was not too tough and I love the spices they powdered on. One thing about their skewers is that there’s a min order of 2 if it’s below $5!

🐷 Pig Intestines 猪大肠 [$4.40 for 2]

This was surprisingly good too though I’m not a big fan of intestines. But it was juicy and tender, not too chewy.
