The famous Shanghainese chain from Hong Kong 🇭🇰 has opened their first outlet in Tampines Mall!
It’s so hard to find a good Sheng Jian Bao in Singapore 🥲 The ones in Singapore are either not served freshly made or have too thick of a dough skin. That’s why I was so excited when I saw that they will be opening in Tampines Mall.
I visited on the first evening they opened so the restaurant was packed and we had to queue for around 20 minutes.
Their Sheng Jian Bao is a must order!! Each serving is 3pcs and cost $5.80. The bottom of the Sheng Jian Bao was nice and crispy, the skin was not too thick and was packed with juicy filling. Definitely a 10/10 ⭐
On the other hand I feel that can give a miss on the Xiao Long Bao. We ordered the 2pcs one for $3.80. It was pretty average. 6/10 ⭐
The Chilled Noodles in Sesame Seed Sauce don’t look special but I was surprised how good it tasted! The noodles they used were nice and chewy and did not have any alkaline taste to it. The sesame sauce has a good balance of sweet and savoury. A bowl cost $11.80. 8/10 ⭐
We also tried their Signature Pork Chop with Dan Dan Noodles for $14.50. The noodles were slightly too salty for both of us, wouldn’t recommend. However the pork chop has a nice marinate to it and well cooked, still juicy with a slight char taste. Overall 6.5/10 ⭐
We still had some space in our tummy so decided to order the Poached Chicken & Wonton Soup which cost $29.80. Initially before ordering I thought it was pretty expensive for a bowl of chicken and wonton soup. When it came the price made sense. The soup had half a chicken as well as at least 10 wontons and cabbage. Like the Dan Dan Noodles the soup is on the salty side. The chicken was not tough but not silky smooth as well. The wontons were delicious though. Overall 7/10 ⭐
I would definitely recommend the Sheng Jian Bao as well as Chilled Noodles in Sesame Seed Sauce. I even dabaod a serving of Sheng Jian Bao and it was still tasty even when it became room temperature.
