my journey with reformer pilates has been nothing short of amazing & i really wanna help those who have concerns/worries about attending their first class! read on to find out more about what you need to know to slay that pilates class 😉👇🏻
1️⃣ understanding the reformer machine
• there's honestly a lot of things and additional equipment that can be added into a reformer machine so this is just a basic overview of the main parts that you'll be more likely to encounter in class 👍🏻
• the springs have different intensity so make sure you listen out for the cues by the instructor so that you don't get too light/heavy during the exercise and potentially injure yourself ❗️
2️⃣ must have for reformer pilates class
GRIP SOCKS!!! those are the socks that you wear to a trampoline park - if you're unsure of what you wanna continue with this workout & don't wanna invest in the mentioned options, socks from trampoline park works too 😬 the most expensive option here is toesox, but those are really good quality ones 💯 affordable options are from shopee, decathlon & vivre activewear ✨
3️⃣ types of pilates reformer classes
• it's super important for you to pick the correct class to join, especially if you're doing it for the very first time!! you can find out more here 👍🏻
• once you're more comfortable, go explore different types of classes!! i'm truly amazed by how much we can do on those equipment & am still learning new exercises every time i go 💯
4️⃣ key terms to note
• i honestly hate it when i get lost in class or when i'm seen doing a different thing from the rest, so my pro tip for first-timers would be: listen to the cues from the instructor 😂
• this is the super basic common terms & the way of calling varies from instructors to instructors - but the most important part will be to understand which muscles to engage during the exercises so that you get the most out of the workout 😉
