should YOU attend a candlelight concert? 🕯️

it's no surprise that concerts have been on the rise ever since the covid restrictions were lifted! as you gear up to attend all of these exciting concerts, there is one that has a unique twist to the concerts we are used to seeing: #candlelightconcert organised by fever🕯️

as the name suggests, you'll be enchanted to a 1 hour live music show under a candlelit setting at various beautiful halls in singapore🏛️ regardless of the music genre you're into, you'll definitely be able to find a show that suits your music taste! some of the popular candlelight shows include taylor swift's best hits, a tribute to abba and jay chou 🎼

on this day, i was extremely fortunate to receive a pair of complimentary tickets to the show "a tribute to joe hisaishi" and brought one of my classical music-loving friends with me🤩 we attended the 9pm show and were seated in zone A, which is at the front and closest to the orchestra!

✅ immaculate vibes✨ from the intimate candlelit setting to the soothing orchestra music, it didn't take long for me to become immersed in the experience! the fact that we were not permitted to take photos or videos for the majority of the show allowed me to concentrate solely on the music and the orchestra, allowing me to appreciate the show even more 🤍

✅ throughout the hour, the program flow was extremely smooth! i also like how, during each talking segment, the speakers provide enough context for the audience to understand the flow and choice of music presented ☺️ it certainly enhanced the experience and broadened my horizons on joe hisaishi's music!

✅ from ticket scanning to seat ushering, I appreciate the service provided by the staff, which has undoubtedly improved my experience in small but significant ways 🙌🏻

❌ it's a costly activity💸 prices for the candlelight concerts usually start around $30/ $40+ depending on the seats/ zone you've chosen. as a university student, i believe i would rather spend that money elsewhere, especially if i'm not so passionate about this interest!

❌ this activity is not for everyone! if you don't have any interest in music or enjoy being in a classical music setting, you might not be able to enjoy or appreciate the breathtaking atmosphere🤧 surely you don't want to be using your phone throughout the entire session right?

❌ one thing to keep in mind is that the concerts are primarily dedicated to paying tribute to various musicians and composers, which does not imply that they will be present in person to perform. hence, it may be better to simply wait for the real deal, i.e. the actual artists who will be performing in singapore 😅

— VERDICT: YES but i'll take the cheapest zone ✌🏻

after weighing the pros and cons, i'd say a candlelight concert is a great activity for those who enjoy live music and want to soak up the good vibes, or as a great first date with your potential or current partner😉 given my current circumstances, i would rather pay extra to see my favorite musicians perform live than attend a candlelight concert😢 nonetheless, I wouldn't rule out the possibility of attending another candlelight concert as i genuinely enjoy the atmosphere and its appeal, which is not found in a typical singer concert setting!
