A guide to faster approval in VEP

Today I’m gonna share on my journey of applying for VEP (Vehicle Entry Permit) and getting my RFID tag till approval. It took be about less than 1 month but I got it done!

So firstly you’ll need to head on to google JB VEP and the first link would be vepjpj and register your account. Be sure to have your log card and also your full insurance documents, after submit all required documents you’ll be approved in a-few days time.

Once you’re approved, and email will send to you to be able to login to TCSens where you’ll apply and pay for the RFID tag if you chose mailing (RM56.28), it’ll take probably 2-3weeks time to complete, however I notice there’s others getting them after months. So what I did was to email them afew times to chase for the progress, and wala they approved it within a week and proceed to mail the tag, however due to the couriers services being loaded with tens of thousands of VEP tags per day, they will be abit slow on sorting out and so you’ll be receiving your tag with slight delays.

Moving on to pasting the tag yourself

I’m sure if you’re a online shopper like me, you might come across stuff like RFID tag holder etc which I shared the picture, however do take note that you’ll be wasting your money because ALL mailed RFID tags will be only valid to paste on left headlight (passenger side)

we tested and proven this because my dad went online to search and somehow sources told us we will be able to paste on either windscreen or headlights, but unfortunately he got rejected!

And wasting the mailing and vep tag fees, he proceeded to go down to the collection center in JB tanga bay to get it done, where he paid again for another tag.

Then we noticed that RFID Tag that is valid on windscreen is a different type, it is blue and yellow in colour (not silver). I have highlighted both differences in the pictures I shared. I hope that no one will be falling into traps like this and delaying yourself from getting approval. And be sure not to purchase those RFID holder which you’ll know afew bucks will land you into rebuying tag and a whole lot of unwanted delays.

So for you guys that wanted the VEP to be on the windscreen instead, you’ll have to make your way down to tanga bay for them to paste on the spot, so it’s wise to choose self collection (pasting on the spot) and not mailing. You’ll be able to set an appointment, however the dates will be quite far away.
