Alipay alternative (0% processing fee!!)

I recently went to Shanghai in the summer and as per my research, the no.1 recommended payment app is Alipay but did you know that there is a 3% transaction fee for payments over 200RMB?

I’m here to recommend another payment app with 0% fee that you can consider downloading. It’s the ✨ changi app ✨

From there, you can set up your account and open a liquid account where you can top up using Paynow or VPA number. Remember to set up your account before you fly to China! No harm setting it up and you can just top up whenever you need it.

Pros

☀️ super easy to use, works like Alipay where you can scan the merchant’s QR code or show them your QR code

☀️ NO transaction fees above 200RMB

☀️ if you have leftover money after your trip, you can transfer it out to your own bank account (refer to my last photo)

Cons

☹️ Works like a wallet, have to load money in before using

☹️ Exchange rate is based on Alipay+ network rate

☹️ Very rarely, this payment method might not work. It didn’t work for us in Pan Pacific Suzhou but that’s the only place that payment failed
