differences btw 6H, 9H, 9D, 11D tempered glass

Hello Zesties 🍋! Did you know there’s actually different types of tempered glass screen protectors?I’ll be sharing a few common ones based on what I know and the reason why I chose to use 9H tempered glass on my phone. There are other types like privacy screen protectors and anti-glare but idk I don’t really trust them to deliver the same protection as my 9H ones.

Typically, the larger the numerical number, the more hardness (impact) the screen protector can withstand.

📱6H

basic and cheapest protection that guards against minor scratches and abrasions like keys in your pocket or rough edges of your clothes. will most likely have to replace immediately after dropping even once though.

i dropped my phone a few times from table height and i only replaced after the fourth drop when my phone screen was exposed. the impact absorption is good, and not sure if it’s the angle that i dropped my phone but there isn’t much shattered glass parts that made it dangerous right after the first drop 👌🏼!

they can be easily bought on online shopping platforms like Taobao and Shopee at prices <$10 and the sellers will provide the necessary wipes and dust removal stickers for you to paste the tempered glass screen protector yourself!

since it’s a 9 also, the impact absorption is the same as 9H also, the only difference between 9H and 9D is that 9D has curved (3D) edges that give users a much better screen experience so if you’re really into watching media files on your phone for work or professional editing it might be good for you!

9D is not for me because it requires professional installation (e.g. going to a physical handphone shop and paying $20 for the staff to do it in 2min that kind) and that costs much more compared to me buying 9H screen protectors from Taobao and installing them myself. I ain’t no professional so I think the screen experience from using 9H is already very good.

the bougiest of all tempered glass screen protectors 👑 11D is the most expensive and requires professional installation like 9D but you definitely get what you pay for - advanced shatterproof tempered glass that probably won’t shatter if you drop your phone four times from table height like me. I can’t speak much as I haven’t used this before but if I strike Toto in future maybe I will upgrade to using 11D HAHA.

I buy my screen protectors from Taobao and they’re <$5. I buy clothes and miscellaneous items from Taobao so it’s not a hassle to just add on a screen protector in my shipment but honestly you can just get them from Shopee if it’s more convenient! #mindfulspending
