The last leg of our honeymoon! As usual, costs are for 2 pax, and I’ve indicated ⭐️ for our recommended food & activities.
📌 Day 1: Belgium -> Manchester
⭐️ Check-in to Cove Minshull Street (SGD580 for 3D2N, comes with kitchen & washer & dryer & has water dispenser in the lobby!!!)
⭐️ Dinner: Pieminister (I loved the Moulin Rouge one!!)
⭐️ Dessert: Lazy Sundae (good service + milo oreo flavour was yumz!)
- Arndale Shopping Centre
📌 Day 2: Castleton / Peak District
- Travelled to Castleton
⭐️ Brunch: Tilly’s at Castleton (best english breakfast!! Garlic bread was so-so tho)
⭐️ Hiked at Peak District, from Castleton > Treak Cliff Cavern > Blue John Cavern (optional, paid activity) > Mam Tor > Back Tor > Lose Hill (loved it bc Mam Tor was so peaceful and there were so many 🐑 along the way!!)
- Dinner: Great North Pie Co (loved the crust, found the filling so-so and the cauliflower cheese too jelak)
- Dessert: Frurt (good to go if you’re sick of the usual sweet treats!)
📌 Day 3: Old Trafford
- Breakfast: Tim Hortons (they offer diff menus from SG; the cheese toast was so yumz)
⭐️ Manchester United Museum & Stadium Tour (SGD99, great if you/your partner is a Man U fan)
- Quick lunch of protein bars!!
⭐️ Dessert: Lazy Sundae (yes again!! their strawberry matcha oat latte was okay only but the mango mochi ice cream in their mango mess sundae was yumz)
- Finished exploring Arndale Shopping Centre & Primark
⭐️ Dinner: Slim Chicken (fresh chicken wings, and nice tenders which aren’t dry at all! you get to choose 3 diff sauces)
PS 👦🏻 got food poisoning the next day - the only thing we didn’t eat in common was the banana milk ice cream in the mango mess sundae from lazy sundae; 👦🏻 jokingly says that it might have been from a stranger who fistbumped him (or maybe also the chocolate we made from belgium but hey i ate it too so hmm)
📌 Day 4: Settling in to London
⭐️ Breakfast: Giovanni’s Deli in Manchester (SGD30, cheese bagel was YUMZ!!)
- Check-in to Clayton Hotel (SGD960 for 4D3N, comfortable stay but service not so great)
- Lunch: Current Cafe (the curry was great but the pork katsu tasted funny; matcha latte was also mid)
⭐️⭐️⭐️ Frozen Musical (SGD150, THIS WAS WORTH EVERY CENT ISTG)
- Dinner: Gugsu (SGD12.7 for 1-pax since 👦🏻 couldn’t eat, it was honestly just a late-night eat bc not much stores were open)
📌 Day 5: London + Harry Potter Studio
- Breakfast: The Pastry Parlour (pastries too dry imo)
⭐️ Imperial Army Museum (Free, amazing way to learn about WWI & WWII; we couldn’t finish it even though we spent 3h+ there)
- Lunch: Murger Han (SGD50, meh, we only had it bc 👦🏻 had to eat soupy stuff for his upset stomach)
- Warner Bros Making of Harry Potter Studio (SGD189, I honestly felt this was not my thing since I’m not a potterhead and it talked a lot more about the BTS rather than the lore of it; don’t miss the butter beer & dedicate maybe 4h)
- Dinner: Bento Bab (meh, we only ate bc there weren’t many stores open at 9.30pm)
📌 Day 6: London City Tour
- Breakfast: Nilly’s Cafe (sausage, toast, and omelette were not bad, but found it pricey)
⭐️ London Eye, Big Ben (Free, why not!)
- National Gallery (Free, worth a walk around! I enjoyed more than louvre tbh bc of more context and story given to each painting + their toilets were FANCY)
⭐️ Waterstones (if you love books!!!)
⭐️ Fortnum & Mason - grab your souvenirs here! My mum loved the biscuits
⭐️ Covent Garden Market - grab more souvenirs here; they have godiva, neuhaus (my mum loved), laderach
⭐️ Bao Borough at Borough Market (pricey buns, but the classic bun & peanut milk were YUMZ)
⭐️ Greedy Goat at Borough Market (yummy goat milk ice cream & super nice staff!!)
- London Bridge (Free but tbh it’s just a bridge)
- Monument (Free unless you want to go up)
⭐️ Tower Bridge (Free, v nice pics!)
⭐️ Dinner: Flat Iron (free salted popcorn & ice cream, nubad service, V GOOD truffle mac & cheese and fries!!)
📌 Day 7: Spitalfields + Brick Lane + High Tea
- Breakfast: Bread Ahead which I bought from Borough Market on Day 6 (I didn’t fancy the sea salted speculoos flavour, but 👦🏻 did)
⭐️ Spitalfields Market (lots of food stalls & artsy stuffs)
- Lunch: Gail’s Bakery / Humble Crumble ⭐️ / Pan-fried buns (which were too salty)
- Brick Lane (If you like thrift shopping)
- Drink: Dark Sugars (SGD10 for 1 cup, honestly thought it was a bit too gao and sore throat inducing, but not bad)
- High Tea: Fortnum & Mason at Royal Exchange (SGD130, good experience, but food was mid)
