Lola’s Cafe Tampines worth the queue?

Lola’s cafe has opened its 3rd outlet at Tampines and I visited the cafe twice to try out both the brunch and dinner menus.

I came on a Sunday the 2nd time and joined the online queue which took about 30 minutes to get seated with 20 groups ahead of me so I’d say it was pretty quick.

Here’s my honest review of all the brunch exclusive items I’ve tried.

Dinner Menu:

Food Item: 🍗 Honey Crispy Wings

💰 Price: $14

Rating /⭐⭐⭐⭐: This is a Lola’s all time favourite and while I did enjoy this crispy fried chicken dish, I’m rating it 4 stars because you don’t get the same amount of honey & paprika on each piece because they were drizzled & sprinkled on top of the dish which means uneven coating. You also get 4 wings and 4 drumettes so for $14, I’d say it’s reasonable.

Food Item: Grilled chicken & Mushroom Orto

💰 Price: $18

Rating /⭐⭐⭐⭐: I’m rating it 4 stars because the orto was very creamy and flavourful with a nicely infused taste of mushroom, but I felt that the grilled chicken did not go well with the rice at all.

Food Item: Squid Ink Fettuccine

💰 Price: $22

Rating /⭐⭐⭐: This was my least favourite of the dishes we ordered hence only 3 stars because it was rather bland. The scallops were also quite unimpressive.

Branch menu:

Food Item: Lamb Shaksuka

💰 Price: $18

Rating /⭐⭐⭐⭐: This came with 3 pieces of sourdough bread and while it was delicious, I definitely felt that they could be more generous with the minced meat hence 4 stars for this dish.

Drink items: Ice Pu-erh Milk Foam, Iced Momo Oolong Milk Foam, Chai Latte with Soy

💰 Price: $6.50 for the milk foam series, $8 for the chai latte with soy milk

Rating /⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐: I think this would be great for anyone who doesn’t like anything overly sweet. The milk foam series could be a good replacement for bubble tea while the chai latte was by default already soy based which means it’s a healthier version of what you’d normally get outside while still maintaining the nice strong blend of Prana Chai.

Dessert Items:

💰 Price: $14 for the Uji Matcha waffle, $8 for the lemon basil cheesecake, $9.50 for the strawberry pistachio tart

Rating /⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐: It’s a pity that we were too full to be able to fully savour the desserts. But as far as taste goes, the sweet and sour strawberry slices balanced out the sweet pistachio filling really well while the lemon basil cake had a nice refreshing yet sweet and cheesy mix. The Uji matcha soft serve was very legitimate as well but I think the ratio of waffles to soft serve can be improved as I felt that there was a little too much waffle.
