wondering if you should head down to the studio ghibli exhibition? here are my thoughts!

🎫 tickets

my boyfriend and i got tickets for $23.80 as we went on a weekday (non peak) and had a 30% sands lifestyle concession discount!

🖼 exhibition

as someone who has watched many many studio ghibli movies this was an exhibition that i definitely wanted to visit, and i was thoroughly surprised by how amazing everything was!

there are 2 parts of the exhibition, the first below at basement 2 followed by level 3 — one thing i loved about this exhibition compared to others that i have been to is the number of large scaled elements such as the statues and the set ups of certain scenes, there are so many scenes of the different characters (at least one from every movie zone), large enough to take photos with, yet with so much attention to detail be it with the way the place is set up, or the sounds and lights, it really felt as if you were transported right into the movie!

📸 photo opportunities

1. basement 2 - my neighbour totoro

this photo opportunity will be at the famous bus stop where the characters wait for the catbus, you will receive a red umbrella to match the characters for the photo

2. level 3 - spirited away

this one would be the train scene, where you will get to take a photo with no face!

as this is a formal photo opportunity spot, there will be a queue, we went on a weekday and the queue was around 20-25 minutes, there are also staff stationed there to help take photos and inform everyone on the wait times which were extremely helpful!

🎨 activities

there were also a few activities around the exhibition where you could try out simple arts and craft activities such as origami or doodling the characters which i think was really fun! (just note that some of the activities require you to remove your shoes and/or sit on the floor)

overall,

the exhibition is running until some time in febuary so if you’re not keen on squeezing with the crowds, you could definitely visit when the hype dies down a little, but 100% worth the visit!
