Hey Zesties ๐
Considering going to the land of quokkas ?
๐๐๐ญ๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ซ๐ โด
you can take a ferry from 3 locations to the island - ride duration varies from 25 mins (Fremantle) - 90 min (Elizabeth Quay) so it depends on your convenience
โด we took from Fremantle to save time travelled
๐๐๐ญ๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐ ๐๐ฒ๐ถ
there are various options to explore the island - bike, bus, walk. we chose to cycle as it was our 1st time there and wanted to have a cycling date kinda thing ๐ฒ and we managed to cover about half the island which was about 10-11km. it was quite fun to cycle around and stop whenever and wherever we want to take photos ๐ท BUT what we didn't expect was the many "hills" we had to climb.. sooo do take note and prep your hearts ๐ซถ๐ฅน a lil' part of me cried when I see people zooming past on their e-bikes and segways up the slopes ๐ซ
๐ก I booked the ferry + bike rental from klook after comparing the prices with those on the ferry websites + discounts given in tourist brochures (klook was slightly cheaper) - you can also book the bus shuttle if you wanna tour the whole island with breeze. but i don't recall the frequency of the bus cause there wasn't alot of buses that went past us while we were cycling..
๐ฒ there are 3 recommended routes:
4 km ~30 mins
10 km ~1.5-3 hours ๐ our pick
22 km ~3-5 hours

you will definitely find them near the jetty, especially at the F&B area which is around Maley Street (on the right when you walk towards the island)
Along the roads near the jetty, you can also find more quokkas - so we spotted some at the start and end of our cycling journey. if we are lucky, we can find them among the shrubs etc. as we cycle, but we only spotted one that was sleeping (?) and a 1-2 more on the smaller roads.
We also managed to see some dolphins while cycling - of course we stopped to take pics ๐ธ

we kinda more or less decided to get our lunch at Frankie's on Rotto and planned our route to end at the F&B place (honestly, I think it was pretty good planning on our part ๐คญ) but there are other F&B places around as well

โด we reached Fremantle around 9am and slowly walked to the Shed for the boarding at 9.20am (departure 9.30am)
๐ฒ we got our bikes and checked it (I had to change mine as the brakes was a lil' wonky) - also good to have wet wipes to clean the bikes and helmets โ๏ธ
๐ฒ after getting distracted by quokkas etc. we started our journey ~10.45am and ended around 1.40pm - we really stopped at alot of places and took many pics !! we also packed some snack bars to keep us going till we get our late lunch ~2.30pm
๐ท we finished lunch ~3.20pm and had 30-45 min to look around and take pictures with the quokkas hanging around before returning to the jetty to go back ~4.15-4.30pm
there's also a souvenir/supermarket nearby and if you collect souvenir coins, you can get 1 at the visitor centre near the entrance
๐ฒ AUD 174 for 2 ($87 each) - this included the entrance fee to the island + ferry + bike rental
- this was back in June'23
If I were to go back, I would probably opt for the shuttle bus ๐ and I would be able to go to the end of the island !! (heard that maybe can see seals or something ๐ค). you can also snorkel at one of the many bays if you would like ๐คฟ
