Had my first taste of Batam last weekend, and as hubby says it’s a “different kind of experience” for him. It was more relaxed and chill. What we did? Just cafe and mall-hop and spa.

For those who just wants to chill and treat yourself to good food and coffee at a lesser price, this itinerary is for you.

Day 1, Saturday

✨ Departure at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal (since we are Easties) around 10:20am. It’s less crowded and the Sindo Ferry left earlier as scheduled.

✨ Arrival at Batam Centre around 10:10am. It took us an hour to clear the immigration.

Nagoya thamrin food market - Lunch

We tried the ayam soto and ayam penyet stall. Must try the Rujak Pak Kumis stall for their great rojak.

Magna Coffee kopi break ☕️

Asialink Easy by Prasanthi Hotel - Check-in

A 10-min walk to Nagoya Hill Mall. Decent hotel but would prefer to stay nearer or Grand Batam area.

REBORN BATAM Nagoya Hill had a quick but worth it 30-min massage for $10 only.

Level Up Coffee and Floating Bar sunset watching and dinner. We explored the pasar malam outside and found better options.

Hypermart - Nagoya Hill Mall groceries shopping

Day 2, Sunday

Common Space Coffee & Bar breakfast 🍳

✨ Check-out at the hotel

Grand Batam Mall - (window) shopping

Bought some cute items at KKV.

A2 Food Court Lunch

Try out the only satay and pisang goreng stall here.

✨ BCS Mall - bought Lamoist (best kueh lapis) and Lapisa’s roll cakes here. We did a bit of grocery shopping again here.

itsumō TART snack time before going back SG.

✨ Departure back to SG around 7:20pm. We were at the terminal 2hrs before. Too early, I think an hour is enough.

In #MyPOV Batam is way cheaper than JB and the hip places aren’t far from each other. On the safety-side, JB seems to be more safe. Probably because Batam is not much fully-developed as JB. But honestly, I don’t mind coming back to Batam. Why? Cheap food, cool cafes, friendlier service crew and Grab drivers and most importantly, we don’t need to cross the Causeway and queue for too long. The only downside is I find the ferry tickets pricey, so probably next time a 2 nights will be a good idea.

Have a fun-filled foodtrip and shopping in Batam, my Zesties!🍋✨
