Three Books That Made Me Love Reading Again

📖 Name of the Book: Black Cake

📄 Plot: Two estranged siblings learn who they really are and of their mother’s secret past when they reunite after her passing, all while facing their own personal challenges.

📖 Genre: Drama, Mystery, hints of romance

💭 My Thoughts: I read the book before watching the series. Although I thought both were really good, I enjoyed the book more. It gets to be a lot with the timeline jumps but, the overall themes of loss, sacrifice, and survival creates a beautiful story.

📖 Name of the Book: Before I Let Go

📄 Plot: Divorced couple, Yasmen & Josiah, navigate their divorce, raising their two children, running a business together, and grieving of loved ones. While trying to find a new normal while dealing with all of this, they must also fight the fact that they are still very much in love.

📖 Genre: Romance, Dual POV

💭 My Thoughts: I loved this book! Initially, I bought it because I liked the cover, then I couldn’t put it down. The characters all feel like people you know. This book made a Kennedy Ryan fan! The story is realistic and heartfelt. Your emotions will be all over the place but it is definitely worth the ride.

📖 Name of the Book: A Love Song For Ricki Wilde

📄 Plot: Ricki is the black sheep of her family. She decides to leave her well to do family in Atlanta and move to Harlem to attempt to fulfill her own dreams. There she meets a love that has been waiting a life time to find her. Circumstances outside of their control tears them apart but, their love is literally magical.

📖 Genre: Romance, Historical Fiction

💭 My Thoughts: Again, I bought it for the beautiful cover. Although I was kind of able to guess what would happen towards the end, it still had me in tears. I thought that the growth and development of Ricki through the story was well written. I also loved that the story wasn’t solely about her being or not being with Ezra. We were able to witness her turn into the woman she wanted to be while finding some chosen family along the way.
