FAILING MED SCHOOL IS THE BEST THING THAT HAPPENED

Failing med school is the best thing that ever happened to me.

I started college and med school with no clue about what I really wanted to do with my life. I studied day and night, over 14 hours a day sometimes, counting showers and meals as a break. It was ok because that’s what other people were doing too. The difference was that those people always knew since they were kids they wanted to be doctors, surgeons, midwives…

Me on the other hand the reason I had chosen medicine was because I wanted to help people and it seemed to be the right path for me. I was wrong. For 2 years I questioned myself every single day. I loved too many things in life, I could not imagine having to choose only one thing. I always wanted to pursue and experience so many things. I gave up and started making decisions to be truly fulfilled and live a happy life.

I admire more than everything in this world people who sacrifice themselves to help others. A huge thank you to all the healthcare professionals, you are amazing.
