The first stage is the longest of the three stages. It has 2 phases, early and active labor. For many women, early labor isn't particularly uncomfortable, but contractions may be more intense for some.

What to do during early labor:

♥️Go for a walk

♥️Take a shower or bath

♥️Listen to music

♥️Practice breathing and relaxation techniques

♥️Change positions

♥️Try sleeping/resting

♥️Try to carry on with everyday activities

♥️Eat and drink to keep energy up, focusing on mineral rich drinks & protein and carb balanced snacks

During active labor, your cervix will dilate from 4 cm to 10 cm. The last part of active labor — often referred to as transition — can be particularly intense. Contractions will come close together and can last 60 to 90 seconds.

What to do during active labor:

♥️Change positions

♥️Bounce/lean on a birthing ball

♥️Take a warm shower or bath

♥️Take a walk, stopping to breathe through contractions

♥️Have a gentle massage between contractions

♥️Stay hydrated

♥️Continue to practice breathing and relaxation techniques

♥️Make low sounds to stay relaxed and avoid tensing up during contractions

♥️Use the bathroom often to keep bladder empty

You'll deliver your baby during the second stage of labor. It can take from a few minutes to a few hours to push your baby into the world. It might take longer for first-time moms.

What to do during active labor- stage 2:

♥️With each contraction you may feel the urge to push

♥️Follow your bodies cues

♥️Get in a comfortable position

♥️Use gravity to help you get the baby down and out

♥️Try hands & knees, squatting, kneeling, or getting into water

Remember, you can do this and your body was made to give birth!
