unpopular opinion | an honest review of lola’s 🍰

📍Lola’s Cafe (Holland Village) - 48 Lor Mambong, Singapore 277699

lola’s cafe has recently opened a new outlet near NUS so my friend and i went down after our lessons to check out if Lola’s was really worth the hype ! 🤔

here’s a breakdown of what we ordered:

🍳lola’s breakfast (7/10)

- for $19 i would say the price point was quite steep as a student and definitely not within our normal price range, however comparing it with other cafes i would say the price is just slightly pricier than usual but it’s to be expected!

- the breakfast platter was ordered by my friend but i would say that the scrambled eggs and sausage were really good! it was served with breakfast classics like avocadoes and sourdough as well so you can’t really go wrong with this combination

🍯honey paprika crispy wings (10/10)

- this was definitely worth the hype! the portion was really huge and 8 pieces for $11 was quite worth it in my opinion

- the wings were really juicy and super fresh!

- definitely a must try if you go down to lola’s

🍝duck ragu fettucine (7/10)

- the ragu was really good and pasta was cooked till al dente as well

- but i would say the flavour wasn’t as promising as i expected it to be? compared to the wings the flavour of the ragu was quite underwhelming

🍰carrot cake (8/10)

- price was standard relative to other cafes in sg! lola’s carrot cake and hummingbird cakes are my go to you can never go wrong with them

- their cream cheese was light and delicious and the cake wasn’t overwhelmingly sweet

🌟overall rating: 6.5/10 (a little too pricey as a student 😥💸)

i would say that the cafe was honestly pricey for students but their portions were huge so i do believe that if the sides were shared with more people it would be cheaper per person

❗️the cafe is only 15mins ish away from nus as well so i think that it’s worth a try if you are looking for a cafe nearby uni and don’t mind spending a little more than usual ~
