hereโs a cost breakdown of how i travelled to phuket for under 500sgd per person on a budget as a uni student!
๐ซ flight tickets: $152 two-way
๐ accommodations: hotel $81 + villa $50 (per pax!)
๐ shopping: $64
๐ transport: ~$60
๐ฒ food: $92 (per pax)
these are just rough estimates but i definitely think i could have saved more as well!
- shopping depends on personal spending but for me i spent most of it on clothes that i bought mainly from Chillva Market (do check it out if youre in phuket! there are so many stores and things to buy from there)
- transport might be much cheaper if you book a hotel or airbnb near the places youโd like to go! we booked a hotel in patong but we mainly only went to old phuket town for most of the days so it was really quite an L our taxi rides were like 20 to 30sgd to and fro
- transport might also be cheaper if you rent a scooter for the whole day!
- food depends on where you eat but we did spend quite alot on food as we ordered in a whole feast when we stayed at the villa. however there are really cheap food options available such as their convenience stores where they sell ready-made meals or even meals they can help you whip up on the spot for really cheap ~
- * additional note: we did not go for any activities like island hopping or water activities hence they do not add into the budget of below 500sgd but i do know that it can get quite pricey! so do search up and set aside sufficient budget beforehand if you would like to go island hopping etc. personally i wanted to go phuket just for their cafes and beaches so i did not factor any water or sports activities into my budget :)
โฃ๏ธoverall phuket was pretty budget friendly and i do know quite a lot of mutuals who went there over the summer as well so if youโre a uni student looking for places to travel to with friends during semester breaks do consider phuket as one of your options!
