I regret accepting my first job! 😨😟

When people told me, "You have your whole life to work, don't rush into getting a job," I understood their advice. However, my family's financial situation was not stable enough for me to forgo employment. Thus, I had to seize the first job opportunity that crossed my path. ⬇️

In my early career, I eagerly accepted a "management trainee" position with a renowned retail store company. At that time, management trainee programs were glamorized among fresh graduates, and I naively believed in the structured development this role would offer. Unfortunately, as I immersed myself in the job, I discovered that the company lacked proper plans for its trainee program. To make matters worse, the CEO's frequent outbursts and harsh criticism created a negative and unpleasant work environment. 😫 It was only years later, after encountering incredible CEOs and billionaires, that I realized how unprofessional this leader's conduct was for someone leading a well-known retail company.

If there's one crucial piece of advice I have for fellow fresh graduates or job seekers, it is to ALWAYS research companies on platforms like Glassdoor and LinkedIn. (Back when I started, Glassdoor didn't exist!) The ratings and reviews on Glassdoor can provide accurate insights that empower you to make informed decisions about your career path. 🤗🙌

Bonus tip: Know Your Worth. This can be challenging but essential. Believe in yourself and recognize your value. When you have that self-assurance, you'll understand the unique contributions you bring to the table and gain the ability to CHOOSE, rather than simply accepting the first potential suitor (job offer) that comes your way. Don't make the mistake of settling for the initial job opportunity! 🤧
