Do you suffer from constant bloating or stomach pain? It might be due to a bacteria called Helicobacter pylori.

Late last year, I experienced chronic bloating. My stomach would get so distended after eating that it was extremely uncomfortable. I would also start having gastric right after I started eating, and the pain would get so unbearable that I couldn't continue eating.

I visited a doctor, and we performed an endoscopy and discovered the issue was caused by the Helicobacter pylori bacteria. According to the National University Hospital Singapore, it's present in about 31% of Singaporeans. Fortunately, it can be easily treated with a course of antibiotics!

Many people infected with Helicobacter pylori never experience symptoms or complications. However, some associated symptoms include pain or discomfort in the upper abdomen, bloating, feeling full after eating a small amount, lack of appetite, nausea, vomiting, and dark or tar-colored stools. Bleeding ulcers can lead to a low blood count and fatigue.

If you're suffering from any of these symptoms, it's a good idea to consult a doctor. Make sure to mention that you want to be tested for Helicobacter Pylori, and they will conduct a breath test to confirm the diagnosis.

Leave a comment below if you'd like to know more about my experience and the costs associated with the treatment!
