From Resale to Refined: A Wabi-Sabi Transformation

When we first got the keys to our resale 5-room flat, it felt like standing in front of a giant blank canvas. My husband and I couldn’t quite visualize what we wanted or how it should look, but we both agreed on one thing—we wanted a space that felt like a true retreat.

I did tons of research, scrolling through hundreds of photos, and eventually, I found myself resonating deeply with the theme of ‘Wabi-Sabi’—a Japanese concept that’s all about finding beauty in imperfection and embracing simplicity. It felt like the perfect vibe for what we wanted to achieve.

So, I put together a mood board and walked my husband through it, explaining the different elements I envisioned for our safe space. I made amendments here and there, fine-tuning the vision until the final moodboard was ready. With that in hand, we were all set to visit ID firms to bring our dream to life. It was definitely a journey, but we’re glad and blessed that this chapter is coming to a close, making way for new, exciting memories in the space we’ve intricately designed.

Living here has been a constant reminder that sometimes, less really is more. By focusing on what truly matters—like comfort, warmth, and a little bit of soul—we’ve created a home that feels like a genuine reflection of who we are. And honestly, that’s the best feeling in the world.
