ROLLERMANIA 4.0: is it worth it?

Finally got this experience out of the group chat when me and my friends finally planned a skate date!! I really love to skate but I havent touched it in almost 10 years and I was so surprised that my body still could rmb how to do it 😂 Initially I only heard about rollermania via the dhoby ghaut experience but I never read the review, so let me share my experience with yall;

So if youre planning to go for this event, the only place you can book this at is via trip as I think its a collaboration event.

🛼 the place was air-conditioned!!

Which was a plus because I heard the previous rollermania at dhoby ghaut was hot af 🥵 skating alr requires that much effort that i was sweating even in aircon room - I don’t want to be skating and dealing with singapore’s heat now.

🛼 skates were already part of the package you paid for. Initially I was already prepared to bring my own skates or pay extra to borrow their skates but apparently not hehe.

+ you could borrow free gear incase you’re scared of falling down.

🛼 there was a cute little cafe right beside the rink and there were also arcade games right outside the skate rinks so if youre feeling bored skating halfway, you could go and play~

However there was still somethings I was quite disappointed in (but these are just really just my honest opinions!!)

👎🏼 Pricier than Hi Roller

From my friend’s experience, she paid 15$ for Hi-roller @ downtown east. As for rollermania, me and 3 other friends went for the quad squad package that was 102$ during peak sessions, so each person was like $25?

👎🏼 the venue was smaller than i expected…

Im not sure what I was expecting? (Maybe like Jcube Ice rink big? 😂) but the skating area was rlly quite small IMO… it only looked super big in photos because there was mirrors all around (so i felt abit cheated 😤)

👎🏼 the skate-assist device was really weird looking and imo it didn’t seem very safe because of the sharp corners. It just looked like 2 metal poles attached to each other, forming a corner of a square or a really bad walking assistant. Some kids there were playing pretty roughly and they were falling over with the skate-assist which I thought was more dangerous than them being rowdy…

👎🏼 only had quad skates, no inline skate to choose. But I wont really complain about this as I’ve always been skating with inline and this was my first time trying quads.

👎🏼 the skating mat was slightly uneven so I did tripped here and there (thank god i didnt fall thou😵‍💫) so just be careful esp if you decide to go fast!

Nonetheless it was a very fun experience for me. Honestly I think u just need fun friends to make the experience solid so I won’t complain much about it (just some things to nitpick here and there) 😅 but I think I’ll probably try to go to Hi-roller instead for my next skating experience! The venue was also really quiet as well so there wasnt any overcrowding or much people during our sessions. And they have a solid spotify playlist that me and my friends rlly vibed to!!

Apparently they do offer skating lessons at rollermania which i think its pretty cool and if you wanna start learning how to skate; this is a good start.
