Ummmmm what can I say to defend myself here….🫣

I wish I was making this stuff up but I’ve done all of these things and most of them more than once.

Overall the gym is usually such a positive, fun part of my day and it provides a sense of routine and schedule which is super important to me, but that doesn’t mean I don’t still struggle some aspects.

I’ve made a lot of accommodations such as going at times in the morning when people usually aren’t there and buying noise cancelling AirPods that block out a lot of the sound.

I still haven’t successfully befriended the guy at the front desk but I am actively working on it (I did ask how his weekend) lol

I never did find my friend again that I lost at the gym and I’ve since moved. When I meet people I usually write down their name and few characteristics of them so I can find them again.

Unfortunately sometimes I’ll write something like “girl with blonde hair and bright pink sneakers” and then she dyes her hair the next day and all bets are off at that point.

I want to make friends at the gym but I really am just not good about initiating a conversation, like I literally don’t know what to do with my hands or posturing…do I just walk up to them and say hi??? What do I do????

Idk. I’m thinking about making a t-shirt that says “I’m friendly but autistic and a little awkward. Please come say hi”

And then maybe people will come up to me and say hello 👋🏼

And I’ll be like “OMG HELLO!!!! Nice to meet you!!!!” Because I’m super freaking friendly and have golden retriever energy for miles but I just don’t know how to approach people.
