MIXING RUGS

tips on mixing rugs in close spaces:

•choose rugs that have a similar color scheme and or color tone

•pick rugs that are in the same style category but they don’t necessarily have to be exact. mix vintage with a softer simple pattern. i personally wouldn’t mix opposite styles like geometric and vintage though.

•i like to stick to rugs that are similar in pattern size/scale but not the same. our living room rug has a small/busy print while our dining room rug has a larger print

too much large scale can be overwhelming but too much small scale can feel too busy

•i like to mix texture- add a jute and layer or mix a pile rug with a no pile washable. jute adds the perfect about of warmth and variety
